Long lives the glory which true virtue earns On his mule-chariot borne, The olive on his fair locks worn, To lift great Camarina's name he burns. n2 Jove bless his future vows For I avouch him skilled of steeds, A man of loving deeds, And hospitable house. His is an open soul on good intent, (No glozing lie my honest praise shall stain) A patriot true on peaceful glory bent, 'Tis proof alone which the good heart makes plain. ' Epode i.
